Many years ago I was in a car accident that resulted in a back injury that caused me pain for 7 years. I treated with chiropractic and weight training, but still I had back pain. Then I discovered Pilates. Within 6 weeks of starting Pilates my back pain was gone! I loved doing Pilates and I was good at it. I really felt like I wanted to share my love of Pilates, so I became certified and began teaching. I have now been a certified Pilates instructor for over 9 years. I currently hold a Master Practitioner Mat Pilates Certificate.
Core strength is the foundation of the Pilates method of exercise. To achieve core strength we use the six Pilates Principles: Centering, Control, Flow, Breath, Precision and Concentration. In Pilates we do not rush through our moves. Everything we do is slow and controlled. We focus on breathing, precision and fluidity. Our goal is quality rather than quantity. When you practice Pilates regularly you will feel yourself getting stronger, you will feel yourself standing up taller and straighter, and you will feel good.
If you have never taken a Pilates class before, please schedule a private session to get started. It will help you to feel more comfortable and confident when you come to the group session.
Please remember to bring your own mat to Pilates class.
